Sew with all the colours of the wind

So, I love sewing. It has been part of my life, on and off, since I was 10-ish, and more and more in the latter years. And yet, sometimes, I don't feel like sewing or creating anything for the longest time. I have been in one of these ruts this winter, in a real desert… Continue reading Sew with all the colours of the wind

Day 4 of #modernlessmarch , hosted by @pinsent_tailoring , and word of the day is “close”. So you get me, so close up that I need to wear a mask! 😷 In some ways, I think the current situation drives us apart, but in some ways I think it brings us closer, and encourages us to collaborate across borders and time zones. Let’s stay close! 💙
Day 3 of #modernlessmarch (hosted by @pinsent_tailoring ) is “Trajectory”. I feel like I’ve had an interesting trajectory as a hobbyist #seamstress. The first picture is of one of the first #historicalcostumes I made, an early 20th century #peasant costume to wear when I volunteered at my local outdoor #museum. The second picture is of my costume after I tried to do some serious #research, not just make something vaguely “old fashioned”. The last is of my costume from a couple of years back. Same museum, but different job - and better skills! And I’m still learning! That’s the beauty of it! The trajectory can’t go anywhere but upwards! ❤️🤩
Repost and non-costume content! When I’m not wearing historical outfits, I mostly wear black, and usually supplied by these lovely and amazing people! They own and run @hevnoslo , and have done for the last seven years. Check out their Instagram and web shop for all the pretty pretty avant garde Nordic noir beauty! Take care of the small, independent businesses you love today, and they’ll still be there tomorrow 🖤
Time for day two of @pinsent_tailoring ‘s #modernlessmarch , and topic of the day is “How are you?” 😁 I’m... okay. On the one hand I’m really tired, worried and sad. We’re entering our third lockdown in Oslo since Christmas, and it’s really getting to me. I just want to meet my friends and family without being afraid of catching something or making someone ill. On the other hand, I’m lucky. I’m studying something important that interests me, I live with the man of my dreams, I haven’t lost anyone, I have great friends that I keep in touch with online, and amazing hobbies that keep me sane. And the sun is out! ☀️☀️ so I guess... I’m okay!
I had no energy for #georgianjanuary and completely missed out on #victorianfebruary , but I’m intending to take part in #modernlessmarch , hosted by @pinsent_tailoring ! Today’s theme is “who are you?” and I’m not sure I’ll ever be sure how to answer that question. My name is Maren Sofie Løfsgård, I live in Norway, I’m a historian, a teacher and a lover of old-fashion fashion. I love my boyfriend and cats, I love nature, animals, theatre, film and, of course, sewing. I’m a feminist, I believe that Black Lives Matter, that love is love, and that this world is a team effort. Does that explain who I am? I don’t know. Maybe it’s a decent start?
I got tied off freezing my arms half off whenever I’ve been out in my Georgian outfits, so I’ve made myself a pair of 18th century mittens! ❄️💚 Head over to my YouTube or my blog to see how (link in bio) 😁
