1792 – Here I come!

So, I had a little photo shoot with my darling (patient and luckily quite childish) mother, and here are the results! I also did my hair and makeup to the best of my abilities... 18th century cosmetics consisted mainly of two different products: Blanc (white powder, often made up with lead or mercury, and hence… Continue reading 1792 – Here I come!

Repost and non-costume content! When I’m not wearing historical outfits, I mostly wear black, and usually supplied by these lovely and amazing people! They own and run @hevnoslo , and have done for the last seven years. Check out their Instagram and web shop for all the pretty pretty avant garde Nordic noir beauty! Take care of the small, independent businesses you love today, and they’ll still be there tomorrow 🖤
Time for day two of @pinsent_tailoring ‘s #modernlessmarch , and topic of the day is “How are you?” 😁 I’m... okay. On the one hand I’m really tired, worried and sad. We’re entering our third lockdown in Oslo since Christmas, and it’s really getting to me. I just want to meet my friends and family without being afraid of catching something or making someone ill. On the other hand, I’m lucky. I’m studying something important that interests me, I live with the man of my dreams, I haven’t lost anyone, I have great friends that I keep in touch with online, and amazing hobbies that keep me sane. And the sun is out! ☀️☀️ so I guess... I’m okay!
I had no energy for #georgianjanuary and completely missed out on #victorianfebruary , but I’m intending to take part in #modernlessmarch , hosted by @pinsent_tailoring ! Today’s theme is “who are you?” and I’m not sure I’ll ever be sure how to answer that question. My name is Maren Sofie Løfsgård, I live in Norway, I’m a historian, a teacher and a lover of old-fashion fashion. I love my boyfriend and cats, I love nature, animals, theatre, film and, of course, sewing. I’m a feminist, I believe that Black Lives Matter, that love is love, and that this world is a team effort. Does that explain who I am? I don’t know. Maybe it’s a decent start?
I got tied off freezing my arms half off whenever I’ve been out in my Georgian outfits, so I’ve made myself a pair of 18th century mittens! ❄️💚 Head over to my YouTube or my blog to see how (link in bio) 😁
I love all seasons, but I don’t much care for the days in between when the world is trying to make up its mind as to whether it’s winter or spring... so I’m comforting myself by planning a couple of fun little projects for the week ahead 😊
My #valentine @beached_thing is usually found behind the camera, but sometimes, he gets dressed up with me 😍 and I want to celebrate him today! How lucky am I, to have his love?! ❤️
